What is the Package Builder?

The Package Builder is a new tool we've developed to simplify how you subscribe to and renew our premium resources. It lets you mix and match resources to create a tailored subscription package suited for your needs.

Group managers can now assign users to specific subscriptions, helping manage licence usage. For details, see our managing access guide.

Only need resources for a single year group? We’ve got you covered! Head over to this article to find out how to subscribe.

We've also built some popular bundles, designed to give you the best value and make teaching easier. For example, the Primary Enhanced includes Primary SciencePrimary Maths, Infinity Core, and On-demand CPD materials—everything you need to create a great learning experience for both teachers and students.

This article will walk you through how to use this new tool whether you're creating a new subscription, adding to your package, renewing, or upgrading your user bracket.

How to create a new subscription

If you're a newcomer to White Rose's premium resources and are interested in exploring subscription options, or you're just curious about the pricing of our various bundles, follow the step-by-step guide below to get started:

Steps to use the Package Builder as a new customer buying a group subscription:

  1. Visit our homepage
    Go to whiteroseeducation.com
  2. Click 'Subscribe'
You'll find this in the top-right corner of your screen.
  3. Select ‘Buying for a school’
This will take you to the Package Builder.
  4. Choose your subscriptions
Browse available resources or use the filters on the left to narrow options by school level and subject. You can also explore our Popular Packages for curated bundles.
  5. Set your user licence
For each subscription, select the number of teachers who need access from the drop-down menu.
  6. Add to basket
Click ‘ADD TO BASKET’ once you've set the user bracket.
  7. Continue building your package
After adding a subscription, you’ll return to the Package Builder to select any additional products.
  8. Review your package
Use the bar at the bottom of the screen to view your total price for 12 months, including any built-in discounts.
You can also click the basket icon in the top-right corner to review the subscriptions you've selected and remove any items before proceeding.
  9. Proceed to checkout
When you're ready, click the ‘CHECKOUT’ button in the bottom-right corner to complete your purchase.

Choose the number of teachers who need access to each resource—it’s that simple!

For example, if 7 teachers need Primary Maths and 19 need Primary Science, just select a 1–10 user licence for Maths and an 11–20 user licence for Science. Easy, flexible, and tailored to your school's needs!

When you add a new user to your school group, they won’t have access to any resources until a group manager assigns them to the relevant subscription(s). The same applies when adding a new subscription — access must be assigned manually. This ensures every teacher gets the right resources. For full steps, see our managing access guide.

How to renew your subscriptions

Whether you have one subscription or many, we're thrilled you'd like to continue using White Rose Education resources for another year!

You can renew your subscription(s) at the same user bracket(s) from 30 days before your expiry date. The new 12-month term will begin right after your current one ends, so there’s no disruption to your access.

Before placing your order, double-check you're logged in as a member of the correct group. This helps avoid creating a new group by mistake and ensures your existing members keep their access. You can confirm this in the Package Builder - just look for the group name at the top of the page.

Here's how to complete your renewal:

1. Log in to your account.
You'll land on your My Account homepage. If on another page, you can also access this by clicking the ‘My Account’ icon in the top-right corner of the website.

2. Go to your Subscriptions.
Select ‘Orders’ from the menu, then open the ‘Subscriptions’ tab.

  • Subscriptions due to expire within 30 days will show a ‘RENEW’ button.
  • Other subscriptions not yet due for renewal will also be listed, with the option to upgrade instead.

3. Start the renewal.

  • Select ‘ADD TO BASKET’ to include all listed subscriptions.
  • Or choose ‘NOT NOW’ to renew only the one you selected.

Understanding how credit works

We know that subscription needs can change during the year—whether due to additional staff or evolving resource requirements. That’s why we offer flexible upgrade options with fair credit applied.

How is unused subscription credit calculated?

Unused subscription credit is calculated on a pro-rata basis, taking into account the number of days remaining in your current 12-month subscription term and the licence or user bracket you originally purchased. This ensures the value of any unused time is fairly credited toward your new subscription when upgrading.

When does unused subscription credit apply?

Unused subscription credit applies in several scenarios, including when you upgrade the user bracket of an existing subscription, when you add a new subscription and renew an existing one in the same order, or when you upgrade a user bracket and renew another subscription at the same time. In each case, any remaining value from your current subscription is credited towards your new purchase.

If you choose to upgrade a subscription(s) throughout your subscription term (not within 30 days of your expiry), the subscription(s) selected for upgrade will be renewed for 12 months from the new purchase date. Any other subscriptions held will continue to run until the original expiry date.

When upgrading your subscriptions, the package builder will calculate the unused value of your current subscription and credit this amount to your new subscription cost.

This ensures that you're not losing out on any unused days on your existing subscription.

FAQs

What are the benefits of the new package builder?

You can mix and match the premium resources you want access to as part of a single subscription, creating a tailored package suited to your needs. There are also some amazing discounts when subscribing to more than one product.

I'm not a manager; how do I update my school subscription?

You don't need to be a manager to be able to renew or add resources in your school's subscription package.

Please do make sure you are a member of your school's group before placing an order to ensure our package builder knows to apply the appropriate discounts and credit.

If you're unsure whether you are a member of your school group or you'd like to become a manager on your account, head to our contact us form and one of our helpful team members will assist you further.

Manager access is needed to invite and remove users from the group, to assign access to subscriptions, and place orders for physical products such as workbooks. Please ask a manager within the group to check that the appropriate access is assigned for all new and renewed subscriptions.

Aligning your billing cycle

Following feedback from our users, we want to allow schools and individuals to manage all of their subscriptions within the same billing cycle, meaning a simplified process when you come to renew.

When you add a new subscription or upgrade an existing one (e.g. increase the user bracket), the updated subscription will expire 12 months from the order date. To align your current subscriptions with this new expiry date, simply add them to your basket in the package builder. This extends their duration to match and ensures you receive the maximum available discount.
